exhibition statement.

Toyah Robinson's debut solo exhibition Reservoir of the Everyday is an oeuvre developed over the last two years. It combines, alters and refines imagery of the everyday from public and private spheres through oil painting. Robinson holds up a mirror to the audience to reify the inherent interconnectedness between people that is formed from the transient areas of life.

Her work deliberately points to the naturalised mundane:

Viewing paintings beside one another.

A strangers messy chaos.

Seeing something that reminds you of home.

A sticker stuck in the street by a stranger.

Where light comes through, falls and fades.

Collecting ephemera.

Organising your laundry.

Toyah Robinson's heedful and realist paintings aim to act as a physical representation of the invisible string that connects us, and challenges the audience to not only notice more in the everyday, but to develop a deeper appreciation of it.
